This is a very brief introduction to Reiki. REIKI is a hands on healing system re-discovered in the 19th century by Dr, Mikao Usui. It is said to be thousand of years old. It is believed that during the "lost" years of Jesus's life that he traveled to Tibet and India to study the art and returned a practitioner, performing numerous healing miracles by the placement of his hands and expressing intent. Reiki is a gentle yet powerful technique of healing and is now becoming increasingly popular as its effectiveness is experienced around the world. The actual words ‘Rei’ and ‘Ki’ are thought to originate from the Japanese language ‘Rei’ meaning ‘Universal’ and ‘Ki’ meaning life ‘force energy’ REIKI can help restore a balance of wholeness and harmony within all levels of our being, aiding pain relief, stress reduction and healing emotions. REIKI HEALING complements all other medical treatments and therapies; following surgery Reiki healing can help put the life force back, aiding recovery. Stress related problems and chronic conditions such as continual back or joint pain as with arthritis symptoms can be relieved . Also healing can be very beneficial to women’s problems i.e. P.M.S. and menopausal problems, amoung others.
On a personal note On a personal note, Reiki has helped me deal with a chronic insomnia problem that started as a child, the grief over the loss of friends following the September 11 attack, severe PMS and PTSD. It has enhanced my meditation practice and given me great comfort in knowing and seeing that I am helping others. Reiki has helped many around me. Children and Pets included Kids around me have been helped with bedwetting and ADD, elderly members with chronic muscular pains and siblings with migraine. Reiki is not a cure-for-all but can greatly enhance existing medical treatments.
Add your name to my weekly Reiki Healing Circle What makes Reiki different? Reiki differs from other healing techniques in that it has attunements/initiations, an ancient process of tuning the healers body, both physically and spiritually to a higher vibration allowing the healer to become a channel for the energy to flow. Once the channel is open it will remain open for the rest of the healers life. There are three levels of reiki attunement. The first, second and finally Master level. At the Master level, not only can you heal others but you may also give attunements and teach the art. For me, becoming a Master Reiki was a new beginning. My practice deepened and my intuitive gift became stronger overnight. Reiki belongs to all religions and all beliefs for Reiki "Simply Is". To ponder to long on such things would result in one losing out on the experience and rewards that Reiki has to offer, "Simply be Reiki". Mrs Takata's Western style Reiki has always included set hand positions, this is very good for the beginner to use, but I feel it should only be as a guide. it is now emerging from Japan that Dr, Mikao Usui did not teach set-hand position but instead encouraged intuition, "follow the Reiki" sort to-speak. I have found this to be the case for me while giving healing, the set-hand positions get pushed aside as the Reiki guides me to the next position. However I do emphasise that the student should follow any intuitive feeling he/she receives and go with the flow while knowing the set-hand positions. It's a good starting point. I always place the power symbol in the palms of my hands before starting a treatment and speak my intentions, silently or outloud when permitted. I often go into an eye-open meditative trance and just dance with the reiki energy. I could not even tell you what I do exactly, just what I felt needed to be worked on during the session..oh and another benefit that I was never told off prior to getting involved with the practice: Reiki may very well turn up the heat in your lovemaking and may truly show you the way to the Ancient Art of Tantrism but that's another blog. ~wink~ Shanti.
